  1. Confine to a definitive area in your house. Cover the floor entirely (for the area) with pages of newspaper. Each day as you clean up, remove just the paper/page that was soiled, leaving it without a page covering the floor there, so that each day there is less floor covered by paper until you get down to a single page. If a "bare" area gets soiled...clean it and then cover it with a new page and continue the routine.

  2. Since he's only 10 wks, you should consistently take him out every few hours to the same spot outside. Especially if you know he has a particular time he always poos or you see him start sniffing and circling (i.e. after eating, etc). Tell him "go pee" or "go poo". Definitely praise him when he goes. Eventually he'll catch on and let you know when he needs to go outside. He'll also start being able to hold it for several hours at a time as he gets older.

Our puppy started holding it overnight at 4 mos. She is paper trained and didn't understand doing any business outside. Something about the grass randomly made her pee outside one day. So if you can, try to find a grassy area for your puppy.

    Good luck!

  3. hes still pretty young. when he pees on the floor in the house do not scold him as he will not understand, as soon as you get up in the morning let him out and praise him well when he goes outside.

If he has a dry night treat him...this should work

  4. Never leave the puppy unattended in the house, you need to watch his body language to see if he's going to go potty in the house. A puppy will leave the room you're in to go to another room to take care of his business. If he suddenly leaves you to go down the hall or something that is a warning that he needs to go outside. When you take him outside give him a potty command, go potty, do your business or something you want to use. Always use the same command. Lots of praise when he goes potty. A crate is great when you have to be gone a short time, no more than three hours or so at a time for now. Potty before and after you crate him.

  5. 1:If you live in a flat:

If you see your dog doing a p*e.  Tell him/her off, and but the puppy where it should go to the loo.  "Even if it is still doing a p*e.

2:If you live in a house:

Do the same, but put your puppy in the garden, and keep on doing the same until the puppy learns.

  6. First of all you must take remedial steps to stop him thinking that your house is a toilet. Then you should combine house training/potty training with a procedure which will prevent separation anxiety. S.A. anxiety is a problem which many dogs suffer from and if you use my methods this will not happen to your dog.

After a dog has urinated or defecated in the house, obviously you will clean this up. Perhaps you think that you have got rid of the smell and your friends will possibly confirm this, however your dog will still be aware of a smell. Your dog thinks that your house is a bathroom; dogs have a much greater sense of smell than we have.

In the UK there is a washing powder to use in washing machines called Ariel get the BIOLOGICAL version Or get some special cleaning solution from the pet shop and clean your floor with this. When you are sure that you have cleaned every part of the floor that your dog has pooed or peed on  do the following.

When your dog urinates outside and when it is in full flow use a catch phrase I say “get one”, always use the same catch phrase when your dog obliges. Praise profusely afterwards, let your dog sniff around the yard/garden and play with it. Use your catchphrase for the rest of your dog’s life and when it’s an adult it will pee on command.

The following is my method of preventing separation anxiety and starting potty training. After you have played in the garden with your puppy, put your him  in a separate room if possible,(its important that he has a quiet place of its own with a comfortable bed) then go out of this room and close the door. Open the door immediately and go into the room again, ignore your dog whilst pretending to clean the counter tops or pretend to do something else for a very short time. Go out of the room and immediately go back in again, keep doing this and gradually increase the amount of time which you stay on the other side of the door.

Timing is vital and you must do this try to get back into the room BEFORE YOUR PUPPY CRIES. Eventually your puppy will go to sleep and will be convinced that you are just on the other side of the door. When you know that he is asleep stop going into the room, however you MUST LISTEN FOR HIM WAKING UP.

When you know that he is awake, go into the room lift him up and take him into the garden for a pee and whilst he is doing this say “get one” and praise him profusely. Puppies need feeding about four times a day, although he may have a pee before his feed you should also take him out again afterwards. You must always take him out when it wakes up and after he has had food or drink. It’s also a good idea to let him explore your yard/garden afterwards. He must have fun and play.

It is vital that you continue with the door thing for the first few days. To ensure that you have a happy puppy try to devote all of your time to him for the first two week.  This will also help with potty training, however he will not have any control for the first few weeks and he will pee during the night.. To help him, use newspaper that you have rubbed in one of the pees that he has done outside and leave several layers of newspaper on the floor. Hopefully he will toilet on the newspaper during the night.

When you are settled at night watching T.V. either close all of the doors to stop your puppy wandering or put him on a lead and if he moves take him into the garden, You need to have eyes in the back of your head when you have a puppy, eventually he will get the message.

  7. Toilet training for your puppy should start as soon as the puppy is home with you. You must be prepared to be patient and observant!

There are six times a puppy should be left outside for about 30 minutes to toilet:

before going to bed for the night

as soon as he wakes up

after a nap during the day

    after eating

    after exuberant play

after you return home from an outing.

Many people take their puppies out for a walk only to see the puppies relieve themselves as soon as they get back indoors. To avoid this, walk the puppy to his toilet area. Stand still with him, allowing the puppy to lose interest in you. Do not sit down as this will only encourage the pup to jump on you and forget what he is out there for.

Praise him if he performs. NEVER rub his nose in any mistakes! Positive reinforcement when he does the right thing in the right place is the best and quickest training method.

    Outside Training:

When training the puppy to go outside to relieve himself, LEAD him to where you want him to go, stay with him, praise him when he performs. Note that a male puppy sometimes takes longer to perform than a female.

  8. As soon as he wakens from sleepy bo bo's direct him out side to wee & the other.

Again when he has been fed outside to do his business.

Each time he does it lots of praise.

If you catch him mid wee or poo scoop him up & straight outside to show him where to go.Do not tell him off it will be a bit of a shock mid wee or poo but he will soon learn.

You can buy various stuff to clean the area where woopsies ,wee are made to get rid of the scent which would encourage the pup to do it again in the same place.

    Best of luck
