  1. I'm afraid you'll need to give more information before anyone can help you:

    1. Were you adopted?

    2. Where are you from?

    3. Roughly how old are you?

    4. Do you mean your ancestors?

    5. Do you know anything at all about your 'true' family?

This is my absolute favorite site.. it does NOT trace your ancestry, but collects other resources for research.  The core of researching family history is to start with you.. USE documentation/ records to verify any thing before accepting it as a fact, and work your way back.  What those resources are, is completely dependent on where your ancestors were.. US or UK, state, time frame, etc.  The fun is in figuring out which source actually has the most info.. as well as knowing that not all info is online.

If this does involve an adoption.. bottom line is that you have to locate something with a name.

If you are referring to finding living relatives.. again, that involves a completely different type of sources. Normally, genealogy sites avoid including live persons. And, live persons do have the right to privacy, for many valid reasons.

If you did mean genealogy/ family history... pull out your own birth certificate, and verify the facts on there.  Don't laugh! we have people come in here, who find that info is not what they believed! You will have "started" your research, and used a valid record to do it.

More so than any other topic.. the more explicit your question, the more we can help.
