  2. i have a really good plan which im doing aswell.

you dont say which stage you're starting from, im starting training from being able to run 10 mins none stop. if complete beginner you'll need to built up to this more.

Week 1 Run five mins, walk two mins. Repeat four times. Do three times a week.

Week 2 Run eight mins, walk two mins. Repeat three times. Do three times a week.

Week 3 Run 12 mins, walk one min. Repeat three times. Do three times a week.

Week 4 Run 15 mins, walk one min, Run fifteen mins. Do three times a week

Week 5 Run 30 mins continuously.

  3. Easy way:Run 4k for 5 days a week for ~6 weeks leading up to it will give you a fake speed peak (it will be a peak, but you can get a much better one with a full training schedule).  Then the last week try to run 1.5 times faster than what you were able to do the 4k runs in for the 3k you will be racing.  Take the day before off as much as you can, very little exercise, eat a lot of pasta the night before, drink gatorade (or other electrolyte drink) that morning (I assume it is a morning race), and during the race if you can.  This should make the 3k distance feel like a cake walk and you might get a good time.
