How do i train my finch not to fly away from me when i take it out of its cage?

when ever i take my finch out of its cage it never comes to me it always flies away under thecouch.i need some help!also can anyone give me some tricks that i can train my bird!

I think you can clip their wings so they can't fly. Make sure you read up on it first before doing this though.

The birds natural instinct will always be to fly. If it is just a home pet and not used for sport, you can get its wings clipped. That will stop the bird from flying away but will not damge the bird, aside from that.

A. Install an electronic chip in it's brain and when it does the behavior you don't want, give it a jolt every once in awhile!  Not too much or it will be fowl play and result in dinner!  

B. Get rid of the couch and it won't fly there any more

C. Attach it to a tether and it will learn by either breaking his leg, wing or neck depending on where you attach it to.

or

D. Upgrade  it for a cockatoo that has a little more memory.

Sorry hee hee, I couldn't resist.  The only thing I know is to get it's wings clipped or is it that the wings are already clipped so it ends up under the couch?

Well it probably isn't that your finch isn't trained, I think that it isn't tamed. It is scared of you, and so you need to work with it. Be patient with it to, because taming a finch can take time. Here is a website that might help you.

if you are looking for websites that might show you how to tame them, look for parakeet taming web sights, because there are more websites for that type of bird, and finches, and parakeets can be tamed in simmilar ways.

Birds fly it's what they do I am not sure of you can train it other than maybe have its favorite treat handy he will stay with you

Finches aren't as tameable as some of the other type of birds like parakeets or other types of hookbills.  It's not impossible to semi-tame a finch but it takes a lot of time and patience.  

Please do not have it's wings trim.    I will not get you any closer to having it tame.  However, it may send it into shock and it may dies from it.

My best advice to you is be patient and slowly build a trust between you and your finch.  For right now, do not make sudden moves and do not try to touch it.  It may take awhile but your first step is for your finch to be comfortable with your presence.  When it is very comfortable with you, then you may try to offer it some food to lure it to you.  And then maybe one day you might be able to take it out of the cage without it flying away.
