How do i train myself to hold by breath longer?

  1. I've heard that if you hyperventilate, and then hold your breath, you will longer.


  2. Take deep breaths before your attempt - and DO NOT HYPERVENTILATE!!

    Hyperventilation is very dangerous, because it does NOT increase oxygen supply, it just removes some CO2 from the blood, thus decreasing the urge to breathe. Really, it is tricking your body into thinking you don't need to breathe - when you really do. If you hyperventilate, you can pass out before feeling the urge to breathe.

  3. OK- if you breath through your nose evenly and at a very preservitive speed- it makes if feel like your holding much more air and makes you feel like you can be under water longer- and you actually can. Also try thinking of something OTHER than that your underwater and cant breathe. Think of a spec in your goggles- (the darkness if your not wearing goggles, anything other and just train yourself to concentrate on something else but REALLY be careful if you feel like your going to pass out or anything you need to trust yourself

  4. I know a girl that was playing the "who can hold their breath the longest under water?" game and she passed out under water and now has brain damage. She lives in a nursing home because her family can't take care of her.

  5. If you take slow, deep breaths prior to holding your breath, it expands your lungs to a greater capacity and thus, preps you to hold ur breath longer. Longest I can hold is around a minute and a half. Don't go holding ur breath 4 too long or ur lungs will collapse

  6. ok i am a freediver (hence the name) the way to learn.. only attempt this like 3 times a day at MOST when you are watching an interesting show on tv that keeps you amused time wiht ya phone or watch how long you can hold and record the results. try it twice your first time will be little : eg 30 seconds : the second atttempt will be like 40 secs this is becasue your lungs at first are expanding then the second time they have alrdy been streched.   do this over a week and record your results you wil see improvement. TIPS :

    concentrate on something else

    NEVER HYPERVENTILATE

    NEVER HOLD TOO LONG

    after a while try it under water on the surface then try it deeper the pressure will make it harder and DO IT WITH A MATE..
