How do i transfer a home movie from my camcorder miniDV to a DVD? ?

I just started to learn the basic about computers... I have MyDVDplus on my desk top, then when i click it it says SONIC, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

How to transfer home movies to a dvd? thank you.

MyDVD is made by Sonic, so that's OK.  You'll need to capture the video via firewire  - if your PC hasn't already got one you'll need to install a firewire card. They're cheap, easy to install and readily available. You'll also need a firewire cable.  

Once everything's connected, and the camera switched to play, you can capture the video.  MyDVD has the ability to burn directly to DVD, but that's a very bad idea - it should be edited first.
