my ipod is synced up and programmed with one computer and i got my own computer so now i need it to sync up with my new computer. i downloaded itunes on it and plugged in my ipod and wanted me to 'erase and sync' or whatever. i do not want to erase all of my songs just so it will go on a diff. computer. how can i transfer my library to the other computer?

p.s. i think my cousin has a usb cord.. (idk what it is) but i think it is something where u can download files onto it and transport it to a diff. computer. should i use that?

  1. if your computer is a PC, then  listen carefully, ( i don't know what the procedure is on a MAC"

right click on 'start', click on 'open all users', click on 'tools' (in the menu on the top, click on 'folder options', then click on tab 'view', look for the option "show hidden files and folders" cick on it and click 'ok'

    then

hook up the ipod as you did to your computer. when it asks for "erase and sync", DONT CLICK ON ANYTHING , NOT EVEN "no". leave it as it is.

click on start, go to "my computer" ... usually  you should see an extra drive location, this is your iPOD. click on it, open it, then go to a folder named 'ipod_control', then 'music' and all your files should be in there.

there may be subfolders named as F00, F01, F02... etc.. simply copy them all to your computer and then re-arrange.

the file names may be messed up, but atleast you have the songs.

i know this is a long process, i can't think of another.

  2. Yes. Download the files to a memory card and import them to iTunes!

    Good Luck!

  3. This is a great tutorial for this very question. You will only need one piece of software... so make sure you have administrative rights on your computer.
