Hi people!

I've recently bought a Buffalo memory thing. It is wireless and has 500GB memory on it. I have transfered all my songs from my computer to Buffalo. To access Buffalo i have to go into Network then click on link station then Buffalo.

I open iTunes and go to

[File

[Add folder to library...

[Network

Once i have clicked on network it just freezes...

It works on my brothers computer

So my question is:

How do i access Network from iTunes so i can transfer all my songs without using up my Computers memory?

Additional info/questions:

Do i need to download the newest iTunes?

He has the newest iTunes

Thanks

Milan

  1. not sure sorry

  2. You should always have the newest itunes no matter what.

set the location of the music in the prefs to the network drive but ensure its mounted on startup - not using the file menu (that adds playlists not file locations)

also if your brother is accessing the folder at the same time as you it may be that the drive locks out other users. so sharing may not be possible unless the driver supports multi-user access.

also once the drive has been mounted in the prefs do NOT select 'let itunes manage the music for me' or ' let itunes make a local copy in the itunes music folder' otherwise you'll be both altering the files and eventually they will all me moved and un-locateble by itunes.

Once both machines are set up like this drag the music folder form the buffalo onto the music library of itunes and it will build a library file (a list of file pointers and descriptions) locally.

NEVER edit the songs as if you do the other machine may not be able to find the file (an '!' in the far left column).

once you have wirelelssly logged into the network the drive should appear. How you do it depends on the operating system you have so i can t comment on that as you haven't told us.
