i think you have to type them in a notepad. i dont believe its possible to just transfer them

Depends on your handset, you don't say what you have.

For example if its a Nokia you can use the Nokia PC Suite to sync anything on your phone to your PC and vise versa including text messages, contact address book, music, images, calendar. Other manufacturers will generally offer something similar

To actually transfer between devices you'll need either bluetooth on both or a data cable - again the cable required will depend on your specific handset
