How do i transfer videos from camcorder to PC?

i have recorded videos on my samsung video camera which records them onto the small cd.. ive tried 'finalizing' it and then playing it on PC and my computer has error.

You did not mention what brand name or format of DVDs you are using.  One or both of these could be causing the problem.

Your computer's DVD drive may not be compatible with that particular brand or format of DVDs.  Try viewing the miniDVDs in a normal DVD player attached to a TV or in another computer.  If the mini DVDs work there and just not on your computer, you will need to test two things in your computer's DVD drive.

First, try DVD-Rs because they are the most universal format of DVD.  If you are using DVD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RW, try switching to DVD-R until you work out the issue.  Once it is solved, you can try saving money by using DVD-RWs.

If you are already using DVD-Rs, you need  need to try a different brand name of mini DVDs.  In other words, if you are using Sony discs, try Maxell instead.  Different manufacturers use different materials and different processes.  You may notice some of your DVDs have different colors on the burn side indicating a different material or manufacturing process used.  This can sometimes cause a DVD to work in certain DVD drives and not in others.  Once your find a DVD that works in both your camcorder and your computer, it does not necessarily mean it will work in other DVD drives.

*** In the meantime, if your camcorder has a firewire port, you can connect your camcorder to your computer via firewire.  Once connected, you can capture the video from camcorder to computer with iMovie on Macs and Windows Movie Maker in MS Windows.
