  1. Panasonic- PV- GS320 stores video on a MiniDV tape. You can transfer video from it using Firewire (IEEE 1394, i-Link) connection. You can't transfer your video with a USB cable. USB can be used only to transfer from your SD card.

You will need a Firewire adapter (some motherboards have a built-in one) and a Firewire cable.

After connecting your camera with a firewire cable, you can transfer your MiniDV to your computer and edit the video with freeware Windows Moviemaker or more professional software like Adobe Premiere or Pinnacle Studio.

  2. Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.

  3. Through the usb option, you will need to have a different storage device other than your dv tapes, such an SD Card. To transfer them to your computer from your DV tape you will need a 1394/firewire connection. I had to do this with my sony camcorder. Youll then open microsoft windows movie maker, put your camcorder in playback mode, rewind the dv tape to the beginning, then in movie maker select the firewire connection as your video source, press record in movie maker, and start playback on your camcorder. essentially what this does is record whatever it sees the camcorder doing. Kinda ghetto, but really the only solution without a memory card slot
