  1. It's not a feature of Yahoo but rather one of your browser. The way to disable it depends on which browser you are using. I'll detail how to do it in Firefox 2 and Internet Explorer 7.

In Firefox 2: Click Tools -> Options, and go to the Privacy section. Under History, uncheck "Remember what I enter in forms and the search bar".

You may still need to clear what it has already recorded about your previous searches, which you can do under the Private Data section. Before clicking "Clear Now", you may want to click Settings (under Private Data) and uncheck anything you don't want deleted, as well as make sure "Saved Form Information" is checked. If you're unsure about it all, just uncheck everything except the "Saved Form Information" Once it's all to your liking, click Ok and click Clear Now.

You should now be rid of the saved searches.

In Internet Explorer 7: Click Tools-> Internet Options-> Content

Under Autocomplete, click the Settings button. Uncheck Forms (and uncheck anything else you don't want autocompleting) and click Ok.  You'll probably have to clear what it has already recorded about your searches. Click General -> Browsing History -> Delete. Now click Delete Forms. You shouldn't see the search records pop up again.

If you use a different browser or a different version of the ones above, the steps to take will likely be very similar.
