you can try unhooking the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes. if that doesn't work, go buy autozone. they can hook up a code scanner and erase the codes

Correct the problem that is causing the warning light to come on. Just because you get a fault code doesn't necessarily mean that that code represents the exact fault...for example, p0300 means misfire, you don't have to replace all spark plugs, it could be only one coil or even fault in the catalytic converter..take it to someone certified that knows the schematics of the system. Otherwise, you'll be chasing the problem and maybe throwing parts at it that won't fix it

Most if the time when the Service Engine light comes on and stays on is caused by the oxygen sensor being bad.  Have that checked and then go form there to check for other problems.

fix the problem or. you can do this one of two ways you can take a piece of black tape and cover the light with it or pull the bulb out. which is what i did d**n thind gets anoying just like that d**n check oil light.

By fixing whatever the problem is that is setting the service engine light in the first place.

No matter how many time you reset the light,if the problem still exists it will come back on.  That is its job after all, to warn you of potential engine problems.

So, find out what the error codes are, and get it fixed, then reset it and it will stay off.
