  1. I once had a similar problem and had very little access to the blocked pipe work between the toilet and the holding tank. the solution i came up with was to disconnect the pipe work at the tank and connect a dive bottle,i then opened the bottle just a fraction and then using the vhf handheld radioed keith my second engineer to see if there had been any movement.I got no answer ,but i did hear keith running across the deck and jumping into the ocean.I thought this fix was ok but then again i wasnt the one who had to clean the foward heads.Keith has never fogiven me!

  2. It's not going to be pretty.

The first thing to determine is where it's blocked...  is there a powered "macerator" - a lot like a waste-disposal grinder in the kitchen sink - or is just electric pumped.

Does it pump to a holding tank?  Or just out to sea?

You'll need to work your way through the system until you find out where the blockage is... then figure out why it's blocked (solid objects, plastic bags, hair, etc, down the toilet,  or just...  the usual)

Then you devise a way to remove the blockage....  you may be able to remove the affected section and back-flush it with a pressure hose... well away from your boat ;-)

Or you may have to dismantle a blocked pump or macerator and clean it out the hard way...

Don't plan on having too much of a social life for a few days :-)
