There was malware on my laptop, and i think i managed to slow it down since its not nearly as bad as when it started. However, the changes it made are still here, they are as follows:

missing links to the "run" menu,

control panel, (i get to it thru the printers and faxes link on the start menu)

program access from the start menu,

and log off options, (i have to switch profiles by restarting the pc)

the task manager and display control panel has been disabled by the administrator, but since that's me it doesn't make sense.

there is also a a message that says "VIRUS ALERT!" right by my clock that wont go away

a lil help here?

  1. You can reset it to an earlier date.  You can do this in control panel, system restore.

  2. use a system restore

go to start - all programs - accessories - system tools - system restore

  3. Open 'gpedit' file on C:\windows\sytem32.

Select 'user configuration' there you can enable or disable user templates.

Also select 'computer configuration' go to administrative templates then do as above.

I'm pretty sure everything will be ok.
