How do i unlock my LG GC480W VCR???

Question

I don't have the remote for it. evrytime i press a button on it the screen flashes "SAFE" and it won't do anything. i asume it is a child lock, but how do i remove it if i don't have the remote?!!!

P.S, i havent used it in over a year, just plugged it in now and thats all i have been getting. :(

SAFE is usually an error code letting you know that something is wrong. I guess it could be a child-lock feature, but that's not what I'm used to seeing. You might choose a tape you don't care about and try stuffing it in, just to see what happens.

I think you need the remote. There's a lock button on it that needs to be pressed. You can try a universal remote, perhaps one of the buttons will do the same as the lock button on the original. Other than that, I can only suggest you buy a new original remote, sorry.
