  1. No you should not stop "cold turkey".  You should discuss the matter with the person who prescribed the medication, and come up with a plan together.

  2. I can almost guarantee you that if you go off this cold turkey you will have SEVERE insomnia and other side effects that are not pretty.

    Talk to your doctor please.

  3. Stopping the meds without doc's supervision can be dangerous.

See your doctor and tell him why you want to discontinue taking it.

Perhaps this med does not work with your body and you should be taking another type. Try something else. It is normal to test out different types until you find one that doesn't make you feel weird etc.

  4. It's not a good idea: see  DEPRESSION PAGE Z.22 TAPERING OFF DRUGS: DETAILED METHOD  in section 2, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and the first page in that section, and the relevant parts of section 1. For Seroquel; BIPOLAR MANIA (SHORT-TERM TREATMENT OF ACUTE EPISODES)

    Adults

The usual dosage range is 400 to 800 milligrams a day. Doses above 800 milligrams a day have not been tested for safety. The dosage will be gradually increased over 4 to 6 days until the most effective dose is reached, using the following schedule: Day 1: Take 50 milligrams twice a day. Day 2: The doctor will increase the dose to 100 milligrams twice a day. Day 3: The doctor will increase the dose to 150 milligrams twice a day. Day 4: The doctor will increase the dose to 200 milligrams twice a day. Days 5 and 6: If needed, the doctor may increase each dose by no more than 200-milligram increments to a total daily dose of 800 milligrams.

I suggest reversing the following order, but taking at least 2 weeks: the wisest course is to consult the prescriber.

  5. Do not stop cold turkey.  Talk to your doctor about a tapering schedule so you do not feel worse.  You are not on a very high dose, so it will not take as long to taper off.

  6. Work with your doctor.  If you are bipolar, your symptoms will return so you need another med to keep you stable.

  7. why do you want to stop taking the medication? do you suddenly think you are better now? if you are getting better, it is because of the meds, if you stop taking them, you will get worse again. talk to your doctor, and never stop taking any prescription medication without a doctors ok-ok???

  8. you should talk to the dr who put u on the meds in the 1st place
