  1. If you wanna get every ball and be good, you have to be willing to sacrifice your body for ANYTHING. Stay on your toes and try to read where the player is gonna hit the ball...as a beginner its tough, but it will come to you as you get more experienced.

  2. 1. Keep your back straight. Don't slouch over.

    2. Practice your approach. If you are right handed your approach is LEFT RIGHT LEFT. if you are left handed it is RIGHT LEFT RIGHT. Get down really low before you jump.

    3. SHUFFLE. Don't take your eyes off the ball/court. Also, shuffle low.

    4. DIVE. That is why you have kneepads.

  3. When you attack the ball the last two steps you take are the most important ones.  Some people use a three step or four step approach but it's the last two that really get you in the air.

If you are right handed your first step should be with your right foot. Take a step slightly larger than your normal stride.  If it's too long you lose power.  Bring your left foot quickly next to your right foot.  You knees should be bent so that you are almost in a sitting position.  While you are doing that swing both arms behind you.  Explode upwards swinging both arms up as well.  As you jump up your right arm should be ****** back by you head.  When you land try landing on your toes and with knees slightly bent(saves stress on your joints)

As far as being ready and chasing the ball,  stay on your toes with your feet shoulder width apart.  Have your legs slightly bent.  Be prepared to run in any direction.  Unless you need to sprint to run down a shanked ball, shuffle your feet don't cross them when passing.  Shuffling keeps you square to the net and keeps your platform nice and balanced.  When you cross your feet up you lose your balance and usually take the ball at a bad angle.

    Good luck

  4. I'm on a USVBA volleyball team and it's a pros volleyball team and I'm only 10 years old. I was just telling you that because I have been playing volleyball for 5 or 6 years.I know alot about footsteps so what you need to remember is when the ball is going back of you and no ones there then go left right left, sometimes you have to do that over and over again so you can get to the ball. Sometimes you need to go forward to get to the ball do the same thing as you would to go backwords! Good Luck!!

  5. First of all, try not to criss-cross your feet while going to the ball. You need to shuffle your feet. While you're moving to the ball you need to stay low and ready but don't travel with your arms in a first because that'll slow you down. Okay, so when you get in your spot, you want to plant your feet so that you won't jump when you bump it, that will cause the ball to get out of control. S yeah you plant your feet then you get in your position. If it's a hard ball your don't want to swing your arms just let it hit your arms, the energy that it already has will let it pop back up. Now if it's a soft ball, you want to just tap it up.

  6. When you are hitting/spiking it, practice in the gym. Usually there is a padded wall on two sides of the gym and a big colored line on the ground. Start with whatever foot is better- Lets say left. It goes left... right left. Make your left foot land in front of the big line and then when your right foot comes down make sure it is on the other side of the line. Your left foot should land right next to your right one like a second after your right one. When you jump up to hit the ball, make sure you are jumping off both feet. Jump up and pretend to hit the ball over the pad on the wall. Sorry if that was confusing, but if you get it it works very well.
