  1. Easy. One 5th of 26 is 26/5 = 5 1/5 (or 5.2).

    Multiply by 2 = 10 2/5 (10.4)

  2. Don't just multiply and divide directly, as some suggestions have it.  Let's see if you can cut down the workload by judicious recognition of easier calculations.

    First, dividing 5 into 26 is going to leave a remainder, which has to be multiplied again by the 2. Too much like hard work!

    Notice that 2/5 is the same as 4/10.  Multiplying 26 by 4 then dividing by 10 is a whole lot easier.

    4 times 26 is 2 times 52 is 104.

    Divide by 10 to get 10.4.

    Easy peasy.  Always look for shortcuts and conversions to make arithmetic life easier.

  3. divide 26 by 5 and multiply by 2

    26/5 = 5.2

    5.2 x 2 = 10.4

  4. it's 10.4 .......... 26/5 ........... x2

  5. so... do this

    it is 26/1 multiply by 2/5

    this holds true for all sums like this.

    so...this is 2x26 = 52

    so...1x5 = 5

    so divide 52 by 5

    = 10.4

    TADA!

  6. 2/5ths x 26 = solve(n)

    find common denominator and multiply to find n.

  7. You divide by the bottom number of the fraction and multiply by the top number of the fraction.

    As an example, for your question do

    26

    Divided by

    5

    Times by

    2

    Which gives you the answer of 10.4

  8. post it as a question on yahoo answers :p :)

  9. Divide by the bottom and multiply by the top! ie. divide 5 into 26 and multiply your answer by 2!  so answer is 10.4!

  10. Get the division over with first!

    So

    task 1 find one fifth of 26 by dividing 26 by 5.

    26 does not divide by 5 'nicely'

    use calculator or long division to get the answer of 5.2

    task 2 find two fifths by doubling the one fifth answer!

    5.2  x2 = 10.4

    answer 10.4

  11. Work out what 1 fifth is so divide by 5 = 5.2  and then for the 2 fifths just double and therefore the answer is 10.4

  12. shortcut, some mental math;

    just multiply 2/5 x 26; 26 is a whole number, change it to a fraction by adding a 1 as its denominator

    2/5 x 26/1 = 52/5

    then change the improper fraction to a mixed number;

    52/5 = 10 2/5 (5 goes into 50 ten times with a remainder of 2 or  10 and 2/5)

    final answer; 10 and 2/5  this is the correct answer because 4/10 can be simplified to 2/5. When you're dealing with fractions, you always have to simplify to the lowest term. So if you're getting 10.4, the 0.4 has to be turned into a fraction, and thus simplified.

  13. You can divide it by 5 to give 1 fifth (5.2) and then times it by two to give two fifths, which is 10.4.

  14. divide by 5 =5.2 so 2/5ths would be 10.4 remember each whole number contains 10 10ths.
