How do i work the web cam??

I have a Sony VAIO with a built in web cam and i have no idea how it works. Can i record videos or take pictures with it? also how can i talk to my friends who also have web cams?

I know i sound stupid but i need help...:-)

A program has to host the webcam.  The computer doesn't know what to do with the webcam just by itself, especially if you're running Vista.  A program like Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo! Messenger will host the webcam and allow you to talk to your friends.  Both of these programs are pretty user-friendly and should detect your webcam right away, or walk you through the setup process.

If you just want to take pictures or videos offline, when you aren't talking to anyone, there will likely be a webcam program of some kind that you have to launch.

Yes, you can record videos or take pictures with your webcam. Go to start and all programs and search for anything that says 'webcam'. Your laptop should have came with a software. Do you use msn? If you do you can configure it so your webcam will work with msn. Go to tools and webcam settings. Next, read and follow steps.
