  2. I believe their are sites that have details on how to word the invitation.  If I'm not mistaken its somewhere along the lines of "we got married, come celebrate with us" type of invitation.

This site has a few suggestions:

    http://en.allexperts.com/q/Weddings-1546...

    http://www.hudsonvalleyweddings.com/guid...

    Congrats on the upcoming wedding.

  3. Hi and congratulations!

That is easy!  Search on Google for "reception invitation wording"

    Something like this:

    The families of

    Sarah Jane Smith

    and

    Paul Thomas Johnson

invite you to join them for a

    receptioon to celebrate their marriage

    Saturday, the eighth of November

    two thousand and eight

    six o'clock in the evening

    Golf Shores Country Club

    111 Golf Shores Drive

    Jacksonville, Florida

OR something a little less formal

    Sarah Jane Smith

    and

    Paul Thomas Johnson

invite you to a reception to

    celebrate their marriage

    Saturday, November 8, 2008

    6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

    Golf Shores Country Club

    111 Golf Shores Drive

    Jacksonville, Florida

  4. Have a Justice of the Peace officiate the wedding at the reception . My cousin did it and it was really nice.

  5. How would the reception be any fun if no one else was at the wedding? Though, I understand your logic, in a way.

Maybe just hold the reception the next day?

  6. Just put the reception info on the invitation without even mentioning the ceremony, like this:

Ms. _____________ and Mr. ________________ invite you to share a day of happiness and love in celebration of their marriage.

Reception at ___(Location)___________ at ______ o'clock.

  7. Simply send out two seperate invitations --one for the wedding and the other for the reception only.  When someone ask simply state that you are keeping it small and intimate.  No other explanation is required..it's your day not theirs.

  8. Mr. and Mrs. John Doe

    and

    Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith

Request the pleasure of your company at the reception to celebrate the marriage of their children:

    Ashley Joe Doe

    to

    Jeffrey Joe Smith Jr.

The reception will be at 6PM on Sunday July 27, 2008

    Midlands Country Club

    55 Main Street

    Your town, Your State

  9. You are cordially invited to a dinner and dance reception (or reception with light refreshments or whatever) celebrating the marriage of

    Tabitha Chester

    to

    Seth Parris

    on November 10

    starting at 7 p.m.

    at the Sheffield Country Club

    1216 Vine Street

    Boulder

  10. The invites should say something like:

Please join us for a reception

to celebrate the recent marriage of

    Jane Anne Smith

    and

    Kenneth Mark Jones

    date

    time

    place

    or

    Jane Anne Smith

    and

    Kenneth Mark Jones

will be married in a private ceremony

    on date

    place

You are cordially invited to a reception

    to celebrate their union

    date

    time

    place

  11. You just explain in the invitation that it's a "civil ceremony" taking place in a private location so only a small group of relatives will be attending (of course, you can tell where if you want, but people might show up) and then explain that all are welcome at the reception at _______.  Be sure to include and RSVP so you'll know how many to expect.  Best Wishes!
