How do local/amateur boxing trainers get paid?

on fight nights, do they get certain percentage of the winnner's cash prize or do they just rely on monthly fees that their boxers/students pay them?

most have coaches have a career and they just coach boxing as a hobby. others are retired and dont need pay. others get paid off of membership fees. my coach works for ringside during the day and coaches at night for free but he gets paid by the Kansas City Police department to coach policemen for the annual Guns n Hoses(policemen vs firemen) 200 per person.

p.s. amatuers dont get cash prizes or else they would be pros.
