How do make my remote work with my dvd player??

Question

Hey all i dont know what info you need so here is all i can think of. I have a Hitachi Dvd player (second hand without a remote). The DVD player says DV-P323U on it. My remote (which i was told can be programed) is from TElus TV. I live in edmonton Alberta canada. Can someone PLEASE make this work i neeeeeed to watch a movie tonight.

find the brand name of your dvd player in the code book retrieve the number hold dvd button down on your remote and type hte number code in with the channel numbers then release the dvd button and your remote will work for that player

didn't your remote come with a manual that tells you how and the codes? that's how i programmed my shaw remote
