How do microorganisms deal with changes in seasons?

won't microorganisms that are mesophiles (25*c-40*c) die in winter? and vice-versa.... thanks in advance!

  1. They often go dormant in temperatures colder than their optimum, but do not actually die.  There are often pockets in the environment where the temperature is in the optimum range.  These sites serve as a reservoir and can rapidly repopulate the environment in the appropriate season.
