I want to use the multiple destination feature offered on travel websites to fly from chicago to munich and then take the train all over europe ending in spain. from spain i want to fly back to chicago. am i able to do this or do i have to take a connecting flight from munich to spain. I dont want a connecting flight between the cities but if i just didn't take it it would void my spain to chicago ticket.

  1. You can definitely go into one airport and out of another.   When you call have the airline check for prices Chicago to Germany round-trip........Chicago to Spain round-trip  then Chicago Munich/Spain back to Chicago and see which is less expensive.

Since the price of tickets for the Rail around Europe is not very expensive you could always take it from Germany to Spain and then back to Germany or  Spain to Germany and back again....it might be worth it to get the lowest airfare.  I don't believe you can book open jaw tickets online so you will have to call the Airlines directly.

  2. Sounds like you're doing an "open jaw" - this is where your origin is the same but the outbound flight flies to a different destination to the inbound. This is perfectly acceptable on most airlines, often without any extra charges. If you can, book on the same airline and definitely the same ticket (don't buy two one-way tickets). You can book this online on most travel and airline websites.
