Question:

How do non-Yahoo! people vote in polls?

I created a poll for a group that I own and moderate, but some of the members don't have Yahoo! accounts. When they clicked on the link in the poll-announcement message, they were asked to sign into Yahoo! in order to vote. Is there a way to change this so non-Yahoo! people can vote in the poll?

  1. people without Yahoo Accounts are then e-mail only members, and cant access the groups web features, be the polls, photo's or files. there is no way to change this. they need a Yahoo Account to have access to these features

  2. To access polls (or any other section of a Yahoo Group web site), a member of the Group needs a Yahoo account.  There is no way around this.  Note that on the log-in page where your e-mail only members were asked to sign in (when they tried to access the poll), there is a Sign Up link towards the lower-right-hand corner of that page.  Your Group's e-mail only members should click on that link to sign up for a Yahoo account, which is free.  After they complete this process, then link their existing e-mail address to their new Yahoo account with the Membership Wizard (see my Source link here), they will be able to vote in your Group's polls, as well as see any pictures and/or files you have uploaded to the Photos section and Files section of your Group, respectively.
