How do online classes work?

I am going to be taking math 131 (at CSUN) half online and half in class. Has anyone taken this class I have no idea what to expect!

When I took an online class (which wasn't math), I had to log onto a particular site where the instructor posted the reading we had to do and our handouts and assignments.  We emailed the completed assignments to the instructor, who emailed them back with grades and comments.  We also had a place where we could discuss things (kind of like a yahoo or google group), and we could ask the instructor questions at any point.  It was easy to do it this way.
