How do others beliefs affect you?

If someone believes something that you don't does that affect you in any manner or are people so insistent that they are "right" in their beliefs that they must then disprove, disavow, or deny others the right to their own personal beliefs.

If the person on your left is Christian do you have to adhere to their beliefs while the person to your right is Wiccan? Does their personal belief system affect your life in such a manner that you feel the need or obligation to call it into question?

  1. Every person is entitled to believe whatever they wish.  What they believe in no way affects me in any direct manner.  Unfortunately, the prevailing belief in Christianity in today's society affects me in the fact that the Christian fundamentalists and extremists seem to be making laws that others of other beliefs are expected to follow, even if they don't agree with the reasoning behind the law.  In the same way, other religious fanatics or making life difficult in the fact that their terrorist actions have led to a group of laws and beliefs that make life more difficult here than it has to be.

  2. It all depends on who the "other person" is... if its my family, friends - yes it does affect me.

  3. Only if their beliefs are Satanic, in which case I would back away slowly while nodding.

  4. If it is coming from someone who I know and trust then yea I would believe them, and they probably would convince me to believe what they did, I think everyone on this planet is affected by someone else's personal beliefs

  5. Not really, as long as they're not a self-righteous **** about it (goes for all theists, athiests and agnostics).

I'll have respect for anyone who doesn't get in my face about it -the rest can go suck a....

  6. it doesn't affect  me as long as they don't shove their beliefs down my throat as if to drown me with their own religion instead of letting me  believe my own.

i'm a Roman Catholic, not a strong believer, and most of my friends are from different religions, or believe in different things. like some are Muslim,  Born Again etc. We sometimes talk/ debate on some things for example- why muslim men are able to practice polygamy and women can't. we go get heated up at times but we know how to draw a line as not to offend each other.

Coz for me religion doesn't make a person who s/he is, it's just their faith. There's more to a person than religion.

  7. As long as they keep it to themselves I don't care.  I can read anything I want to learn what I want, but unless I walk into your building (Church, mosque, synagogue  , or whatever you call it), I and most people I believe, don't wanna be preached to.

  8. I would say I am pretty tolerant toward most people. I find religion an interesting subject. I, personally, am an atheist, but that doesn't stop me from seeking knowledge about other religions in a effort to understand them. I am particularly drawn to the neopagan belief system.

I would probably be least tolerant towards Christians. They can really get on your nerves. The religion itself is fairly decent. The practitioners, however...
