  1. They test the hormones in your urine to see if you are ovulating, the time of your cycle when you are most fertile and most likely to get pregnant.


  2. They pick up a hormone called LH. During a cycle a woman has many LH hormone surges but only one is high enough to trigger ovulation. LH will surge high enough to trigger ovulation about 24-48 hours before you actually ovulate. So when the test detects your highest LH surge it will be positive. Most women ovulate within the 24-48 hours (it does not actually detect ovulation there is no test that can tell you exactly when you ovulate) when you get a positive your about to ovulate meaning time to do the baby dace.
