How do owls turn their heads all 180 degrees?

  1. You do realize that 180 degrees only means halfway around? I think you mean 360 degrees -- and they actually don't go ALL the way around. They can go very far one way and very far the OTHER, but not a true 360 circle.

    MOST birds, especially long-necked birds, can turn their heads almost completely backward, but the owl looks different when they do it because it has no discernable neck.
