How do paragliders take off?????

i saw one flying ... similar to this 1 and i was wondering how they can take off

do they drag the parchute??

do they just drive off a cliff??

or are they dropped from a plane

the one i saw was in air, and had its parachute deployed

  1. Basically, they lay the para-wing out on the ground behind them, and just get a running start - the wing comes up and fills with air, then goes overhead of the pilot. It's a very simple procedure. Having a slight wind is helpful, too. Less running that way. :D So, yes, they have to "slightly" drag the 'chute some, but it's minimal, less than you'd think.
