  1. They sleep standing up on one foot with their head under their wing. That is normal for a bird. They need nothing special to sleep.

  2. Don't worry. Birds don't need a bed to sleep in. They sleep standing up.

  3. no, healthy parakeets stand on their favorite perch/swing and stand on one foot (putting the other in they're feathers) and turn their heads around and put them in their feathers also.

a normal bird bird might stand on two feet and/or not put their heads in their feathers

a sick bird will sit at the bottom of the cage puffed up. When this happens they need to see an avain vet ASAP.

  4. I think it's possible to buy a little nest for them to sleep in but like Samantha said, parakeets have no problem sleeping standing up.

  5. Hi Spike.

What everyone is telling you about parakeets sleeping standing on their perch on one foot is correct.  I would like to add something you can do to help them with their sleeping routine.  You must get a sheet or cloth large enough to cover the cage and drape it over their cage every night about the same time.    This gives them more security and a feeling of the privacy of their home.  It also keeps the draft off of them.

    Thanks for reading.

Good luck with your new birds.  :))
