  1. Each congregation determines the pay/benefit package for the pastor.

  2. Pastors get a salary and it is usually very low. Pastors also tithe on their income. Tithing goes towards the business of running the church...mortgages/rent, utilities, salaries, giving. Being a pastor is a very reputable profession...but one should have the spiritual gift of pastoring before becoming a pastor.

Tithing is trusting in the Lord and knowing that He is always faithful to you. He will provide.

  3. 10 percent sounds like commission. Maybe the pastor really is the agent of god, but he can't get the money out of god, so he has to get it from you.

  4. My church pays a good salary for the pastors and all of them also give tithing and offerings to the church.

I have never regretted giving money to the church. The amount is between you and God. Give what you want give. God has promised to give ten fold back

  5. same as i and you do do our work,I obey the Bible, I know it is better to give then to receive. They do God's work(most, the liars you have seen it looks like their days are coming soon)as Like I do I thank God for all he has done and all the trades(jobs) I have learned with his help.

  6. Most pastors, at least the ones I know, are never adequately compensated for the amount of time and effort they put in helping those under their charge. They go way beyond the call of duty in times of crisis, in teaching, in helping in any way that comes up, 24/7.

As for the 10%, most of that money goes into the functioning of the church, its maintenance, functions, office supplies, payroll for other positions like secretary, janitor, etc.

Yes, I would say that being a pastor is a reputable profession, very self-sacrificing and caring. I'm sure there are many exceptions to this but for the ones I know, they are Treasures.

  7. A true man of God is spiritually rich and financially poor, all others are con men.

My grandfather used to say that there is something wrong with a church where the pastor is the richest man in the congregation.

  8. by fleecing the flock.

  9. It's not a reputable profession.  It's telling lies to make money.

    ____

  10. The bible was written by and for priests.

The reason they sacrificed animals at the temple was so that the priests had food to eat. Of-course you have to give up 10% to the church, it payed for their expenses way back in the day.

Nowadays, it takes a college degree and 4 years of seminary to get ordained into the Presbyterian Church, so thats a **** load of student loans so that you can get paid 35-40 thousand a year.

Its not the best or most entertaining job, and you lose money going into 8 years of school after high school, but for people like my own father, its just what he wanted to do.

Don't go for it unless you abso-*******-lutly have a passion for it.

  11. About as reputable as prostitute, but at least a prostitute gives you something in return.

  12. a) sallary

    b) ? (tithe question)

    c) being a pastor is reputable; but remember, pastors are held in higher accountability before God than others because of their influence (for good or for bad).

  13. The pastor's i know often have to watch the money the spend and pinch pennies because they have a flat income. The pastor makes so much per month and that's it(say $2,000 a month). It do sent matter on how much the offering is because the pastor doesn't' make very much many off of it nor should he. Now about the 10%, the bible tells us that we should contribute 10% of all our earnings. 10% of a dollar would be 10 cents. That's not much. And god also says that he will give back to those who give. As for retirement and other expenses you give what you can give.

  14. Most of them supplement their income by delivering promotional flyers in the morning, the occasional one will have a paper route as well.

  15. My pastor is an excellent leader, he leads by example. He expects us to tithe because it is Biblical. He practices what he preaches by tithing himself. My pastor makes a modest five hundred dollars a week from the church which he does have to pay taxes on. He only asked for four hundred but the church voted to give him a raise because we love him. Still five hundred dollars a week is a very small income for a Man who deserves so much more, especially considering he has a wife and four kids to raise on this mediocre income.

  16. It is called prostitution.  They're peddling fantasies for money.

  17. If someone can't get by on 90% of their income, they need to rethink their budget.Christians are to rely on God, not money.

  18. 1) Call the cops.

    2) Most churches do not do that. Trust but verify what you have heard.

  19. my pastor owns his own business... he gives what his paycheck is for being a pastor right back to the Church...

  20. The preacher never touches the money.  He is paid a salary to be on call at all times for the sick, the dying, those who need counseling and to provide a proper diet of God's word. He, too, must give.  I give 10% each Sunday and then do other things during the year.  I support missionaries, buy Bibles for the Chinese and Russians.  Because I am paid a salary, I decide how I will use my money.  Jesus said that a workman is worthy of his hire.

  21. Sure, better than most, God says in the bible to bring 10% of all your income to His church, and it says that the pastor should get paid from there too.

    Malachi 3:8 KJV

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

  22. Most pastors make very little money.  Now don't get me wrong, there are pastors of "super" churches who seem to make a lot, but for the most part being a pastor is a very rewarding position spiritually, not financially.
