How do people accidentally step on the gas and crash into restaurants?

I mean how stupid can someone be? And I don't understand how they keep going. If I stepped on the gas by mistake I would take my foot off immediately and step on the brakes!

probably because you live in the united states, where the roads are very big and they are divided into blocks. So more people have less control over there cars...

Here it's driving with clutches like 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on. And the road are very weird because they were build in medieval times.

But it also could be that people who drive into windows are just plain stupid or are on drugs or something

With the exception of the elderly, they do it out of panic. The others are all mouth breathing simpletons!

I have seen this many times and I wonder myself but they just get confused or distracted or they are flat out drunk is all that I can say........................

Its all panic.  Some people cannot handle the pressures of driving and get scared at the very thought of getting into some kind of incident on the road.  everything from a car making a lane change into a lane close to them, and they swerve, to a basic parking maneuver.

Most crashes I see involve people panicking when another vehicle gets too close.  Even if that other vehicle wasn't even a danger.  People swerve too far.

Next time you are out driving, watch people around you.  Watch when another vehicle makes a lane change toward another, watch the reaction.  Or, in a parking lot, watch that one car driving through by a car sticking out a little farther than the others, watch the driver swing extra wide to avoid it.

People are afraid of their own cars!  They don't know how to handle them and lack confidence.

I think it may be caused by people driving with both feet. They turn around and hit the wrong pedal,panic and crash.

I think its caused by losing control of the car, not accidently stepping on the gas, unless they're drunk

This happens because people panic. Once they make the mistake of putting their foot on the gas instead of the brake, they start to panic and can't remove their foot quick enough to stop. I've seen this many times in older people.
