How do people become Racial Supremacists through the Bible?

First off, i am no racist of any sort. Many of my friends are minorities, and i myself am part of one, being 1/2 mexican 1/2 white. However, it is obvious in this world that there are many people who believe that their race,(typically white) is superior above others, and use the bible to support it, such as the Klu Klux Klan.

Its so clear that the Bible is not racist, with lines such as "love thy neighbor as thyself" among others, so why do people declare their racist thoughts in the name of God?

I feel like people who use the Bible to attack other people are very selective about their passage readings. They try to use religion to justify their judgments because it seems like a righteous reason to do something or feel a certain way.

However, they fail to realize that not only was it written by humans (men), thousands of years ago. And that it has gone through numerous translations. Also, they have clearly not read the whole thing.
