Each family can use up one big plastic bag full of trash each day. Inside the trash bag might contain leftover foods, bottles, cans, etc..

1. How do people dispose of these trash/garbage in landfill sites?

2. How long does it take the trash to decompose?

3. How much trash is out there right now?

  1. Depends. In some cities, sorting of waste must be done by the householders, and in some other cities, a fee is charged for waste collections so that when we dispose garbage (sorted or mixed) down to the curbs or dumpsters, the workers wil sort them out for you. ln my place, sorting waste (recyclables, food waste) is done at the kerbside itself or if front of our houses (sometimes, they even keep the usable items as most of the workers are foreigners, poor ppl), although usually this is not encouraged since a lot of time will be wasted..

for q no. 2, it depends on the amount or nature of the waste itself, organic items in a humid weather decompose fast enough, and vice versa.

for q no 3, i have no idea, u have to google 'em for the hard facts.

  2. picked up on curbs

I bet some if it will never decompose.

    There's way too much trash.

    ps are you a spy?

  3. the problem with the dumps is that there is so much on top of each other that it isn't returning to the earth.  while newpaper is biodegradable so much of it is all over the dumps that it isn't getting a chance to decompose.  that's why recycling is more important than ever.  if we make sure NOT to add things that can be recycled, like paper, cardboard, plastic bags, bottles & cans, we can reduce the AMOUNT of garbage on those piles.
