How do people die from getting involved in pool drains?

it confuses me so but i just dont get it. can someone please help me?

I heard about the the thing with the guts, too.... disturbing visual.  Also, I heard about a girl's hair getting sucked in and she couldn't surface so she drowned.

In one case, a girl sat on a pool drain and it created a strong vacuum that sucked some of her guts out.  I think because of the resulting lawsuit there are new, better standards for pool drains.

Yes, I think it was a vacuum effect that drew out her intestines.
