Like a sofa for example, or a king/queen size bed...?

It's an ignorant question I know, I'm curious though.

  1. Howdy K,

How tall of a condo??  We have recently been working on some, less than 6 stories.  The contractor allowed the tenants to have some of their bulkier items lifted up by an extension boom lift (Lull, e.g.).  If there is construction going on in your area, you might ask, IF you have a door large enough on the exterior of your unit.  :)

  2. As well as the above answers, there's also 'sometimes they don't'. I have heard of a store sending 3 different oversize couches to an apartment, none of which would fit through the doorways. They had to give up and sell a smaller couch to the people. I wonder what the people do, when they move out, if they had furniture brought in by an extension boom lift ? Sounds like a very expensive way to move furniture, if you had to hire one to move out with.

  3. In my old condo we got everything in through a pulley/rope system through the sliding glass door on the balcony.  When we moved into the current McMansion in the 'burbs, we did the same thing in reverse to get the stuff out of the condo.  Then back to the pulleys and ropes to get things to the upstairs part of this house because the doors are so narrow!

It's a royal pain, that's for sure.  I'm never moving again.

  4. Ironically they sell such furniture. My brother bought a beautiful couch that actually has the arms come off for such problems. He also has a box spring that folds in half. In my house we had a tough time, but were able to bend he queen size mattress to get it up our stairs.

when my brother's fiancee moved in they wound up having to cut a giant piece of sheetrock out to fit her couch up the stairs.
