People know that because Smackdown is taped on Tuesday. And then it's aired on Friday. People know the "spoilers" because they go on a website that provides information about wrestling or they hear it from other people that attended the show on Tuesday.

SmackDown since its inception (except for 1 or 2 times) has been taped on Tuesdays & aired on Thursdays (earlier) & Fridays (currently). Some sites such as http://WrestleZone.com have people that attend the taping, make note of what happens then report on the site. WWE.com at 1 time used to spoil SmackDown as well, but they have since stopped, only doing it if the major Championship on the show changes hands, (as what happened when Edge won from The Undertaker)

Then it is aired on Fridays and therefore called Friday Night Smackdown.

Spoilers are put up the day after or like I said before you can just get the spoilers as the show goes along
