How do people make money at home by graphic designing?

I'm interested in making a profit from making graphics, layouts, icons, etc. and I don't want just an ordinary job. Any help?

Starting your own website based on your designs is still your best way to go. I can share a success story with you that starts at the beginning and walks through the steps taken to a finacially successful self-owned web business. Well, you see there's these websites called

getacoder.com

and

getafreelancer.com

both of these websites work's like this.

People post projects (some related to graphic designing) and what they want out of the project and other users bid for how much they'll do the project.

The person who placed the project exchanged messages with everyone, and after a few days he chooses a winner, and the winner gets to start working for cash, that's basically how I earn a little income over the internet.
