How do people normally judge good acting?

I mean, I can distinguish really bad acting, but sometimes I see Oscar nominees which I don't really understand, so I wanna know, what makes you feel like you just saw good acting? Do you have some sort of criteria?

Answer 1

- The actor has to be believable.

- The actor has to make you care for or despise the character.

- Facial expressions, voice.

- How interestingly the actor can portray his character.

The people that can do all those are at the Top tier. But still, the opinion varies from person to person.
