How do people tear their acl?

I was just wondering how people tear their acl. If anyone has torn it can you tell me how. Im doing a project at school. Can you give me the specifics? Thanks.

Well most people tear there ACL from sports. Either a direct hit to the knee, or something as easy as a ockward step could tear your ACL. I havent torn my ACL but  I have many friends who have torn there's from football, and basketball. But what I have done is torn my meniscus from playing basketball, I took a ockward step and found horrible pain throughout my whole knee.Hope this helps.
