  2. h**l i have 8 uncles, 4 cousins, 2 grandpas, 1 great grandpa and like 15 buddies that were or are in the military. being around them all the time has given me the ability to spot any military guy within a 1 mile radius.

F.Y.I: also if they use the f word at least 4 times in one sentence it is a given.

  3. You're clean cut and your mannerisms betray you. Most civilians are undisciplined in their demeanor and since you are not, it shows.

It is the same with q****s. There isn't any one thing that you can put your finger on, but 9 times out of 10, you can just look and tell, but they don't know how you do it. It is called intuitive thinking.

  4. It's just who you are. I know there is no one distinct profile for military but obviously you are going to be healthy and have good hygiene. A soldier, a sailor, a marine and an airman all carry themselves with pride. I do, even as a teenager, and so do many of my peers as cadets.

  5. Upright short hair and likely to reply *+^%^ Sir.

  6. probably your haircut and possibly the way you carry yourself.  maybe you call everyone sir and ma'am?  those are all dead giveaways

  7. For guys, the most obvious is the hair cut.

  8. Since my son is a Captain in the Army I have observed a few insights that might be of help. First, there are service men / women who want to be recognized as being in the military. No problem with that. However, there are many who seek to do the best for their country but have no need to be identified as military. In many cases this reinforces their desire to be in Special Forces, such as my son. They like the fact that they can blend in to the local environment and be come just another one of the local civilian population. Bottom line, it most likely comes down to how you carry your self and present your self to others. Either way, we are proud of all of our troops.

  9. Discipline....shoes...hair......eating habbits !

  10. easy....ur hair. When i go out in the bars/clubs on the weekends, or even just out...in a military town...its REAL easy to spot soliders.

    1. they are either wearing SOMETHING military...BCGs, a shirt with a company on it, dog tags are out, or the chain is visible, acu print wallet...or even combat boots (ive done that one a few times..lol)

    2. their hair. they are either shaved completly....or they have the telltale high and tight.

    3. arer ususally acting a fool with 6 or 7 other joes and you see them walk to their car with "go army" stickers everywere.

    4. i'm in the military and can just tell...:)

  11. Hair cuts are a big give away.   Most guys even today do not wear buzz cuts or other military style hair cuts.

Look at your wrist watch.  Quite often military people wear military style watches even when going to a formal function.   Instead of a nice Rolex perhaps you are wearing a Times Warrior.   Or you may have it set for Zulu time rather than local time.

They may be very observant and notice the military decal on your car.  Or the base parking decal.  Or perhaps you spent the extra money and got military license plates for your car. From inside your car you do not see those and may have forgotten about them.

Or it could be the way you talk.   Those who have been in the military quite a while talk different.  For example,  due to the need to get the mission done quite often military people do not "chit chat" when they start talking to someone and instead just jump right to what they want to talk about.  Or they use words that civilians do not.  Do you refer to the bathroom as the head?   Do you call a cafeteria the chow line?  Or the dining hall?

Or perhaps they hear your dog tags clinking as you walk.
