How are people influenced into changing?

One way is they people see how other do things and note that it's easier that way, so they change.

Another way is that people conform to what most of the others do to fit into the community. We (as humans) don't want to stick out and be the odd one out in most cases, and most are very selective about how they'll stick out if they decide to do so. Some change intentionally to fit in and others do it without thinking about it.

Trends also influence people. The more you see one type of trend the more familiar you become with it and in the end your ideas start to conform with it simply because of the familiarity.
