  1. well youre doing something wrong..me and everyone i play with can get 140 out of a pw...or a soft 9 iron

  2. Two things:  club head speed and contact.  They swing smoother and achieve the greatest speed during impact or just after impact.  Regular players achieve their highest speed before impact.  In fact go to driving range, watch people there, the regular people made violent transitions from back swing to down swing, but nearing the ball, their club speed loses power, this is indicated by not having a full finish.  To get full finish, you have to gradually accelerate from back swing to down swing, gaining speed as it nears the ball and just slightly forward of the ball and then full release until the right shoulder points at the target (for right hander).

The second is contact, by releasing late, it creates a downward path into the ball, creating divot in front of the ball.  This imparts back spin on the ball, allowing it to have penetrating ball flight, and continue climbing longer (so it will go longer).  And this also allow the ball to hit the club face sweet spot, which is in the middle of the face, not at the bottom.

  3. I have 2 sets with old set i hit my 7 iron 135 to 140 with my new set I hit my 7 iron 165 to 170. ! set is Titleist and 1 set is Nickent. You guess which is which, but try some other clubs.

  4. Its called "timing And contact"    I am 62 and can still hit a hard 7 170  if the situation calls for it.

  5. depends on your height, your clubs height, the shafts, and your ability. if you have been playing a long time than you should be able to but practice is key. work out and get flexible. if you look at tiger swing he can flex amazingly. i can hit my 7 about 177. but i also practice alot and am pretty flexible. take some lessons if you would like. don't get discouraged. have fun with what you do and everytime you go out try and do a little better. good luck.

  6. Firstly, they strike the ball nearly perfect each time, and on the sweet spot, secondly, they generate massive power from clearing their hips, and releasing their hands at the perfect time, they do not swing hard, just smooth and great contact,  I hit a 7 iron approx 160 yards, and I don't have a great swing, I just hit the ball true alot.
