How do police officers use geography?

i know police officers do use geography but can you please tell how they use it.

  1. they also use spacial geography to map crime - look at csi and the like. there are all those crime maps where crimes are occuring and at what time.  

    they also use it in the street so that they know that this route is the quickest to the bank where the armed robbery is.

  3. To get from the library to the ballroom because they heard the butler might have done it with the candlestick.

  4. well you have to know your area you work in. driving on a sunday with the family is a whole nother world when you are running code 3 and your buddy on your shift is screaming into the radio for help and when citizens see lights they lock up and you never know what they are going to do.

  5. Ok some one go for a walk in a national park, and gets lost police and rangers look on a map and plott where the best place is to start a search, and when police go in it is no good if they can't read a map get lost and have to be rescued themselves.
