i dont understand how the mailing system works - if i send a letter to japan i only pay the UK post office - for an international stamp.

It leaves the UK via Royal Mail hands but when it arrives in Japan, their post offices take it and deliver it. But they have not been paid. How does this work?

  1. It is an international agreement. You pay the originating countrys postage and that is all. The idea is that it all works out in the end.

  2. The same happens when you get post from Japan, where japan post office get money, but no money for RM in UK.
