my friend got a DUI and he is possibly looking at changing his job, however his license is restricted to drive to and from work only. Just wondering how a potential employer would look at that on an application/dmv check...

  1. If his job requires driving a company vehicle it could be a problem with the insurance coverage.

  2. they employer should not care unless you are going to drive a company car period. and if you are not whet they ask you if you have a driver license just said yes. providing you are not going to drive their cars

  3. They   frown on them

  4. it depends

  5. Depends on if he is responsible for a company car. Since a lot of people use mass transit to get to work and don't use a driver's license getting general employment shouldn't be a problem. Never heard of a company denying someone for a job that didn't require driving.

In the past I've worked as a mechanic and we had to be licensed to test drive the vehicles we were repairing. As long as any restrictions didn't prevent the test drive all was fine. The company was charged a high enough fee by the insurance company as it was and one guy with a DUI didn't change things much.
