in general like stocks or oil and food prices

how do prices rise or fall?

the concept of a price is a human made concept

Since humans created the stock market and humans grow and sell food, dont they control prices?

when u watch CNBC, the say that the price of a stock rises, lets say, but they make it sound like it just rose on its own. Someone owns that stock and so someone decided to raise the price of it. I dont understand how prices just rise and fall the way they say. I would think that someone or something makes prices rise and fall

  1. I can only answer part of this question. when talking about food, it's easy to understand that nature can destroy crops raising the food price because of LESS material to use.

When talking about stalk, i am not so sure but, when more people buy stock in a company the price per share goes up. As in the Great Depression, everyone had no money so they sold them all, hence the Stock Market Crash. I hope this clears things up. i am not sure what stock does for a company.

  2. supply and demand

  3. You are absolutely right: prices do not rise or fall on their own. Price can not do anything. It is the forces of demand and supply which causes prices to move: when the demand for a stock or good from some human beings is strong, they offer higher prices to buy and sellers accept higher prices - so the market price goes up. When the potential sellers of stocks offer to sell at lower prices, there will be many buyers who are willing to buy at lower prices and this gets prices to become lower.

Price movements are the result of so many buyers and sellers actions.
