  1. Well, the easiest answer'd be that they don't, *grin*.

    School of the Air only goes from kindie/pre-school to year 7, so the kids aren't old enough to do any actual public exams.

    (**known as 'SOTA' or, increasingly these days, 'SDE' or 'Schools of Distance Education')

    Increasingly nowadays School of the Air** is moving away from HF Radio towards using the internet so I guess in the future there's some room for doing class tests online; however, using the current software, each School of the Air student can individually pause the lesson so it's tough to see how they wouldn't just pause the test and go and look up each individual answer, thus negating the purpose or any use of the test!

    Any tests they currently do would be taken either:

    i) during a mini-school (school camp);

    or

    ii) individually, as and when their class teacher visits them at home;

    or

    iii) at home, under the watch of their supervisor (either their govie or their mum).

    However, School of the Air doesn't necessarily have the same aims or priorities as a city-based school does, so you shouldn't fall into the trap of assuming that what happens in a metropolitan primary school will necessarily be happening or being taught by School of the Air.

    Btw, there is not one single School of the Air; there are 15 separate schools all doing their own thing, in their own way.

    Finally, probably the best website for information etc is that of the Alice Springs School of the Air:  http://www.assoa.nt.edu.au/_SNAPSHOT/sna...  although there are many more websites freely available; I went to google and got somewhere in the region of 100,000 results, far too many to list for you here but if you want to look further into the School of the Air, try clicking on:  http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=...
